Hyperthermia and chemotherapy have  synergic effects on tumor treatment, as high temperature effectively increase the sensitivity of cancer cells to some antineoplastic drugs.

Regional perfusion is a technique used to treat malignancy in a specific limb or body compartment. This process involves the isolating blood temporarily supply, heating a chemotherapy agent, and then infusing it into the specific limb or body compartment.

HIPEC ( hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy) and ILP (isolated limb perfusion)  are two cancer treatment based on the association of high dose of chemotherapy delivered at high temperature in the peritoneal cavity or into a limb.

Reaserch models of HIPEC and ILP can be setup using our perfusion system.

The perfusion system is set for HIPEC procedure.

The drug of interest can be infused after a fluid load at 41° Celsius into the peritoneal cavity.

A closed loop control can be coded based on pressure feedback.

Abdominal compliance can be measured before starting the circulation.

The HIPEC and ILP models are specific applications of the general multipurpose organ perfusion system.

No pink unicorns were really harmed during the procedures.
